To crochet or not to crochet

Bad Carol, again. I said on my last post that I wouldn't start anymore projects until I finish at least one, but now I've started two more. Now to add to my list of WIP's, I've added a crochet hook case and a shawl for my Grandmother. I think I'm seriously addicated to starting new projects. Maybe if I stay away from the computer for a couple of days, I'll get something done.

Even now as I'm writing this entry I'm looking up new patterns. I must stop it. I must finish a couple of projects. I must clean up my apartment.

Oh well, that's it for today. I'm going to go away from the computer now.

I'm still awake...

It's been a bad week for sleep. On Monday I worked the closing shift at work (12-9), and then I had to walk to the local Ford Dealership (MGM Ford) because my rides truck was getting an oil change there. Long story short the mechanic left my rides keys in another customers car. I didn't get home until 11pm that night.

Then I had to work the opening shift the next day (8am-5pm). I drank 64oz of coffee from Petro-Can, and still felt asleep. On top of that I was PMSing. (PS, if the customer who I pissed off is reading this, I'm sorry, I really do care about my job, I was just having a bad day). On the way home it started snowing, blowing directly in the opposite direction that I was walking. I didn't get to bed until 10pm, and didn't fall asleep right away.

Today I woke up with 10 minutes to get ready for work, it would have been okay if I was going to start working at 8am, but I had said yesterday that I would be in early to help clear up some of the back log of stock. The day went okay. But I have yet to spend any work on any of my crocheted or knitting projects.

Although one good thing has happend today, I got my Crochetville Summer Swap parteners name today. Woo-who!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Speaking of knitting and crocheting, here's my WIP list for today...
1. The infamous crocheted monkey for my step-daughter. Seriously, do you guys think I should frog this project (Input please.)
2. The knitted poncho for a christmas present. Still no more yarn for that project, so no progress either, once I finish one project I'll buy more yarn for this one first.
3. The Diamond and Lace poncho. I have to buy more yarn for that one.
4. The Blue Jean Shawl. You guessed it, I need more yarn.
5. And finally... The crochet tote bag that I am designing. So far I've made the back and the bottom
6. The cabled knitted sweater for my friend at work. I swear I've frogged the part I'm working on for the last time.
7. And I've started a poncho for another friend at work using the Patons Grace that I bought last week.
I've got to promise myself that I will not start anymore projects until I atleast get one of the projects done.
Another week begins
It's Sunday morning again and I'm procrastinating. I should be cleaning up the living room right now, and instead I'm posting on my site and checking out http://www.crochetville.org . Bad me.
Bad me on the yarn buying front too. I went to Michaels on Friday after work to buy some stitch holders for the previously mentioned knitted sweater, and instead I left with 5 balls of Patons Grace. I could help it though, the colors I bought were on clearnce though for $2 each. On the way home I figured out it would probably make a great summer poncho for either me or my step-daughter. I'm an addict to buying yarn, and I don't want a cure.
Yesterday my Dad and Grandma went to Ponka to see my Grandpa. He looked really well by the time we left.
I should go and clean.
I must love frogging
I've started and ripped out the sweater for my co-worker many times now. It's not like it's a hard pattern, but it's the first time I've ever cable knitted. I'll get there adventually.
On the crochet front I've been working on the hat pattern the Raquel from Crochetville sent me. It's a nice pattern, but I like hat patterns that you don't have to turn. I'll finish making the hat, but I don't think I'll be making it again.
Back to the knitted sweater. Today my boyfriend/common-law-husband gave my co-worker s*** over the fact that she bought me yarn. It's not like I didn't have enough WIP's, but I like making stuff for other people. Plus I love to learn new techniques.
Oh well. I have the yarn now, and should really go and work on the sweater.
Another day and other dollar...
It's Saturday and I worked again. No one as far as I know no one stole from the store today. I also found out that we have a floor walker at the store. For those who don't know what a floor walker is here's the explaination.
A floor walker is a person who is either contracted out or hired by a retail outlet. They aren't spoused to be known by the employes. They walk around in just plain close, pretending to shop. They watch out for both internal theift and for possible shoplifters. Basically they are store security.
I personally feel alot better about my job know that there is a floor walker. Hopefully the amount of thieft will go down now.
Yesterday I started the knitted sweater for a co-worker. She bought me 5 skeins of Red Heart
Supersaver in the color "Country Blue". The pattern for the sweater can be found at http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter04/PATTmariah.html .
I also recieved the test pattern for one of the girl at Crochetville. Thanks Raquel, I can't wait to start making it.
That's about it for today. I hope everyone has a great day and a great weekend.
Today is better :-)
Today is definalty better. No one stole anything major from the store today. And the employee who had the portable DVD player stole from behind her till has identified the thief on the security tape.
I worked on the strap for the crochet tote today at work. I decided to make it color blocks to tie all the colors in together. I'm getting closer to being able to post my first pattern here.
On the knitting front a co-worker is going to buy me some yarn tomorrow so I can make her this sweater. http://knitty.com/ISSUEwinter04/PATTmariah.html . I can't wait to see what yarn see choses. Granted it's not going to be an expensive one, but I don't care, as long as I get to keep what's leftover.
Thank-you for letting me rant yesterday.
Maybe it's because it's the 13th...
But today was not a good day. First of all when I got to work, I couldn't find any of the products I needed to fill the holes in my department. (I forgot to mention that I work in a retail store). I mean not one product. While I was looking for the various products, I looked over to the paint department and saw the 2 cans of paint that I mixed for a customer yesterday was still sitting there, so I had to send them to our once a week clearance centre.
The day went on, helping what seemed to be really picky or demanding customers. Then at about 4:40 local time, a male customer came up to me and a co-worker (who were having a "safety meeting"), and asked us which hair trimmer we thought was the best. He said that it was for him and that his wife was going to buzz his head. So I suggested on of our "better" brands, and he decided to take the most expensive. Then a few minutes later I was paged to the paint desk. It was the same customer. This time he wanted a portable DVD player from lock-up. I proceeded to follow procedure, while sort of. I took it to the till at the auto-service, because he said that he was also paying for some tires. Normally I would have taken it up to either customer service or to the main tills. So then at about 4:55 the auto service cashier phoned me to tell me that the customer stole both the items. That was it, I just about lost it. I turned out that no one at that enterance has a walkie-talkie to do the code for theift. So I called my manager and told her about it and gave her the codes for the products.
Hopefully that will be the end of that. There was one indecator that I should have noticed though. He did have an oversized bag from another store that didn't seem to have much product in it. I know I'm human, but I still should have noticed.
Okay, back to crocheting realated posts.
It's WIP Wensday.
Currently I am working on...
1. The infamous crocheted monkey for my step-daughter. I'm still thinking I will never get this project done.
2. The knitted poncho for a christmas present. Still no more yarn for that project, so no progress either.
3. The Diamond and Lace poncho. I have to buy more yarn for that one.
4. The Blue Jean Shawl. You guessed it, I need more yarn.
Another day's gone by...
And still no work on the monkey. I've done a few more row's on the crocheted tote, but no real progress.
I don't know if anyone has seen the "Ove-glove", but I was looking at it today at work and realized that all it is, is a knitted fingered glove. It can't really be that hard to make.
Otherwise I don't have that much to say.
Here's an interesting link for today, http://www.thesmartyarns.com (they are no longer in business). So here's another link http://www.crochetpartners.org/resources/yarns.html
Why do I think of new idea's?
Yesterday when I knew that I should have been working on my step-daughters monkey, I came up with a pattern for a crocheted take-a-long bag. It's not like it's anything different from other crochet totes, but I like the pattern so far anyways.
The pattern so far only consists of single crochets, but that could change. I'm only on the front of the piece. I know I will have to line the bag, and I already have a design in mind for that too. I was thinking of adding pocket on the outside to put the hooks and a small pair of scirrors in.
Too many patterns running through my head. No where near enough time to make them all. Maybe if I didn't spend so much time to the computer, I would have more time to crochet. (The only way that's going to happen is if my computer breaks down again.)
I will post a pattern as soon as I'm done making it. I am writing it down as I go. And as soon as I get a digital camera, I will post pics.
Another Week Begins
It's early Sunday morning, they're on they're way (oh sorry not a Pillsbury comerical). (hehehe)
I found a project that I'm going to use the previously mentioned burgandy yarn for. I'm going to make that Diamonds and Lace poncho at http://bythehook.blogdrive.com/archive/140.html. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep this on or give it away, either way I think it's going to turn out beautiful.
The other project that I started yesterday was a shawl. I used the leftover yarn from the hat that I made for a co-worker, and I'm going to have to buy more. The shawls title is "Sweet February Shawl" and the link for it is, http://www.marloscrochetcorner.com/sweet%20february%20shawl.html.
However I'm out of yarn for both of those projects so today, I'm not sure what I'm going to work on. I guess there's always the crocheted monkey (I wonder where I got my name) that I'm make for my step-daughter. Or I could work on the scrap afghan for my cat.
That's about all for today. I have to go, the sound of me typing annoys my boyfriend.
It's Saturday
Another day and I'm still undecided on what to do. I have a whole bunch of part skiens of yarn, and I don't know what I want to do with them. I don't want to make the usual chap stick holders ect. I was thinking of making a scrap afghan for my cat, but I'm not sure. The other thing I was thinking of making was slippers. I'll make up my mind at some point.
I also still have the skien of burgandy yarn that was given to me. I'm thinking I'll make a poncho to sell or give away.
That's all for today,
My Second Day of blogging
It's now Thursday and so far I've made it two days in a row.
Last night I completed to different projects. A baby sweater for a co-worker (the pattern can be found at http://www.bernat.com/pattern.php?PID=181). For that one I used Bernat Baby Bouncle in the color Waterside. The other project I finished was a knitted chullo hat for another co-worker. (chart for that pattern can be found at http://flor.trix.net/chullo3.htm) For that pattern the co-worker bought me 3 skiens of Bernat Handicrafter Cotton in the color Sunkissed Ombree.
I would post pics, but I have no digital camera. (Poor me, but I'm thinking of buying one for my birthday.)
My boyfriend (okay common law husbands) ex gave me some burgandy yarn and I'm trying to come up with some project ideas for it. It's not like I don't have enough yarn laying around, but having a new skien makes me want to use it.
That's about it for today.
Welcome to my blog! :)
Hello and welcome to my blog. This is my first time blogging, but am no novice to the internet. I have had a computer around me all mylife. My brothers were given a computer around the time of my birth and soon they were on BBB boards.
Now this blog isn't going to be about computers, it's acutally going to be about knitting and crocheting. I've been knitting since I was about 10, and crocheting since I was 18. (I'm almost 23 now). Personally I prefer to crochet, but every once and awhile someone will request a knitted project. I have made a few patterns of my own, but mostly I use patterns designed by other people. (Thank-you to all you wonderful designers out there).
That's about it for now, I will keep making entries though.
